Basenji Puppy for Sale

You can find a Basenji Puppy for Sale readily available on the pet market, but it takes a little bit of patience and experience to choose a purebred and healthy one among many. You must be fully aware of your own intentions, and you must realize the greatness of responsibility you are about to accept. Basenjis are cute and lively companion dogs, but they can be hard to crack for inexperienced dog owners.

Owning a Basenji requires patience, devotion and readiness to sacrifice a lot of your own spare time. Being active and playful dogs, Basenjis bore easily, and can become noisy and destructive if you fail to spend a due amount of time training them. They do not require a large yard and usually do okay indoors, but they do love daily walks, and there must be space for them to run and play. Before purchasing a Basenji Puppy, please, learn as much as possible about the breed, so that you will be ready to deal with the rigors of dog ownership. There are numerous websites with information about the breed. Basenji breeders also have their own websites and webpages with information on their Basenji Puppies for Sale.

Basenjis are small and sturdy dogs. They measure 16-17 inches high at the withers. The head is elongated, the eyes are small and almond-shaped, and the ears are upright and pointed. These dogs have a kind of worried countenance due to the furrows on the forehead. The coat is short, smooth and shiny, and it comes in copper red, black-and-tan, and brindle-and-tan. Basenjis have white on the chest, tail and legs, and sometimes the white extends to the muzzle in the shape of a blaze. The coat does not shed heavily, so the dog is very easy to groom. All good breeders must be open about the breed with potential clients and should not conceal the breed’s weak points. Conscientious breeders never have many Basenji Puppies for Sale, because they do not regard breeding as business.

Despite their compact size, Basenjis can be tough to handle for novice dog owners because of their somewhat willful temperament. These dogs can be suspicious of strangers, and they do not take to everyone easily. Basenjis are short with non-canine pets, and should not be left around them unattended. They are usually good with considerate and responsible children, but they cannot bear rough treatment and teasing. For this reason, breeders do not recommend them for families with small children. Basenji breeders can provide all kinds of help to those who have already purchased a puppy. However, you should not expect any help from so called “puppy mills”, who will surely be offering you the “world’s best and most purebred” Basenji Puppy for Sale, because this is the way they manage their business, and fast money is the only thing they are concerned with.
