Years ago the dogs were used as hunters, so they are used as hunters nowadays too in Africa. These dogs are prized for their hunting skills. While hunting, the dogs had bells hanging on their neck for their masters to hear them pursuing the prey.

This is an ancient breed that was descended from African jackals unlike other domesticated dogs. The scientific researches show that the Egyptians had dogs resembling to this breed. There were many hieroglyphic images and sculptures from ancient Egypt that depict that very breed.
